For women with Lipedema, it’s essential to support the body in the most effective way possible. A Lipedema body often struggles with chronic low-grade inflammation and has difficulty processing and burning fat. That’s why I’ve committed to a predominantly Plant-Based way of eating, focused on lowering fat intake, reducing inflammation, and providing the energy your body needs to heal and recover.
Why the right nutrition is essential for women with lipedema:
Less inflammation, so less pain
By choosing healthy and plant-based food, you prevent the unnecessary inflammation that the body can get from food of animal origin. After all, a body with lipedema deals with enough inflammation as it is.
Better recovery
The choice for fresh vegetables and fruit - preferably organic - provides the body with the optimal nutrition for recovery. Lipedema asks a lot from our body, which makes it very important to take good care of it.
Store less fat
Women with lipedema are struggling with fat burning. Therefore, the recipes in the cookbook are all low in fat. How we get our energy instead? From the carbs (glucose) that we, for example, find in delicious fresh fruit.

Why I Created This Cookbook for Women with Lipedema
As someone living with Lipedema myself, it’s my mission to support other women facing this challenging condition.
Over the years, through my work as the founder of Lipedema Coach, I’ve developed a clear and holistic vision on how to approach Lipedema, and nutrition plays a key role in that.
Every body can benefit from healthy, nourishing food, but especially a body affected by Lipedema. The kind of food we focus on is the type our bodies were made for: whole, unprocessed, and predominantly Plant-Based, think vegetables, fruits, and natural ingredients rich in vitamins and minerals that support healing.
This way of eating boosts your energy, supports your body’s natural recovery, reduces inflammation, and can even have a positive effect on your mood.

Why Healthy Food Matters for a Body with Lipedema
In women with Lipedema, the immune system is constantly triggered, trying, without success, to break down fat deposits. This ongoing internal struggle leads to chronic low-grade inflammation, which can be incredibly painful and exhausting. That’s why it’s so important to adopt eating habits that help calm this inflammatory response.
I recommend a predominantly plant-based way of eating, focused on reducing inflammation and supporting overall healing. Animal products, on the other hand, have been shown to contribute to inflammation in the body, something we want to avoid.
I also encourage eating plenty of fruit. Yes, lots of fruit. Fruit is rich in healthy carbohydrates (what every cell in your body thrives on) and naturally low in fat, something the Lipedema body often struggles to process efficiently.
This way, you’re giving your body exactly the kind of nourishment it needs to feel better, function better, and begin to truly heal.

As both a therapist and an expert by experience, she is passionately committed to helping women suffering from this debilitating disease achieve a pain-free and happy life.
Through the experience Rachel has gained over the years as both a Lipedema patient and Specialised Lipedema Therapist, she has developed her own unique approach to managing Lipedema.
