Why is massage so important in the treatment of Lipedema?
Lipedeema is characterized by fat deposits that, while not fully understood, are believed to be triggered by hormonal factors. What we do know is that these fat accumulations cause significant problems in the body. These deposits, often seen on the legs and arms, behave differently from regular fat. They weave between the layers of tissue in the body, compressing the small capillaries in our vascular and lymphatic systems. As a result, the transport of nutrients and oxygen is impaired, and the removal of waste and excess fluid becomes extremely difficult. This is where massage comes in. Through massage, we can begin to break down these fat deposits, triggering the body’s natural healing ability to clear them away. Vascular flow improves, waste and fluid are flushed out, and this leads to reduced pain, improved mobility, and, over time, weight loss and a return to a more sculpted shape.
